5 Ways To DIY Your Outfit For Summer | Tuesday Tips

06:43

Ever since I found my new style, I feel like loads of posts and videos just came into my head and I feel totally inspired right now, far from bloggers block. So after really feeling my new style and confidence in clothes I felt like making everything I buy/own, more 'me'. This is also such a perfect post if you want to get in on some of the new SS16 trends but don't have enough money to buy all new.
1. Cropped jumpers and tees
I totally took inspiration from Sarah Ashcroft with this one because I loved the idea of buying a normal jumper and making it cropped. I mentioned in my personal style post that I was starting to wear crops more but ones that weren't too fitted. Here I've just recycled a lightweight primark jumper by cutting it into a crop, totally using my winter wardrobe to create spring/summer pieces!
2. New lengths
Now that were getting clothes for spring/summer its all about showing some skin. Cut old t-shirts into crops and jeans into shorts and there you have some pieces to take on a summer holiday, again without paying for all new! What about getting the DIY look without DIY? Ebay have loads of vintage Levi's which have been cut into high waist shorts.

3. Tye dye it yourself
Another DIY trick I used to use is buying some dye and tye dying your own t-shirt. I wouldn't do this now but I still think it's a great idea to customise some beach wear for the summer. Simply use YouTube tutorials to find your perfect design and it doesn't take that much effort/money to create a few for your holidays. All you need is some dye, water, elastic bands and clothing of your choice!

4. Get the raw hem
You might have seen the new style of jean that's everywhere at the moment, the raw hem. So basically, the bottom of your jeans are frayed slightly and for me, I'm not about to go spend £40 on a pair of jeans that have been changed the tiniest bit. I got myself an old pair of jeans and transformed them by cutting the ends and pulling slightly - boom, I got the raw hem for free. It was surprisingly easy but I still tested it on a really old pair of jeans just in case anything went wrong!
5. Paper makes slogans

A while a go I used to be into DIY'ing my own t-shirts and I don't really know why I stopped but it's such a good idea for cheap customisation. You can buy the tansfer paper really cheap from ebay and yep it doesn't look the most professional but if you're wanting a simple slogan t-shirt (very on trend at the moment) then it will do the trick and it's cheaper than buying one from most shops.

Thanks for reading and hopefully this give you some inspo on DIY'ing your own clothes!
